The much awaited movie “GOAT,” also known as “Greatest of All Time,” debuted in theaters yesterday and has allegedly made Rs 43 crore in India so far. Following its premiere, the movie has garnered a wide range of reviews, with both critics and fans giving the picture high marks. The science fiction action drama, directed by Venkat Prabhu, stars a number of well-known actors, including Vijay, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Sneha, Laila, Ajmal, Mohan, Jayaram, Parvathi Nair, Vaibhav, and Premji.

With a great deal of anticipation, the movie had already generated Rs 65 crore from pre-sales and advance ticket purchases, and on its first day at the box office, it was predicted to make over Rs 90 crore. Nevertheless, Sacnilk reports that on a working day, the movie earned Rs 43 crore nett in India despite being shown in 5000 Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi theaters. The Telugu version of the movie made Rs 3 crore, whereas the Tamil Nadu version brought in about Rs 38 crore. However, the Hindi version barely generated Rs 1.7 crore and could not find many buyers.
Vijay’s last movie, “Leo,” debuted with a global box office receipt of Rs 145 crore, but despite the hype, “GOAT” failed to gross more over Rs 60 crore. It has been stated that the movie has made $5 million in North America. With an opening weekend total of Rs 43 crore, the movie had a fantastic start on Thursday and surpassed Dhanush’s “Raayan” and Kamal Haasan’s “Indian 2” to become the biggest opening grosser in Tamil this year.
