Lieutenant General, head of Russia’s biological security forces, killed in explosion in Moscow
Moscow: According to official media, a bomb in southeastern Moscow on Tuesday morning killed Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, the head of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops, and his assistant.
According to the TASS news agency, Svetlana Petrenko, a spokeswoman for the Russian Investigative Committee, said that an explosive device hidden in an electric scooter was the source of the explosion.
According to the inquiry, an explosive device placed in a scooter detonated close to the entrance of a residential building on Ryazansky Avenue in Moscow on the morning of December 17. According to the spokesman, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, the head of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops, and his assistant perished in the explosion.
The committee’s Moscow bureau has opened a criminal investigation into the incident, Petrenko said. Investigations into the crime’s circumstances are ongoing.
