BRS MLC K Kavitha and other MLAs protest at Telangana Assembly
Hyderabad: To express their annoyance and call for justice for the farmers detained in Lagcherla, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), MLC K Kavitha, and other MLAs protested in the Telangana Assembly. As a sign of their protest, they showed up before the Telangana Legislative Council today wearing black attire and shackles.
The BRS party said on X, “In protest against the Congress government’s stance that has shackled the poor tribal and Dalit farmers of Lagcherla, BRS Working President @KTRBRS and BRS MLAs wore black shirts, raised slogans, and staged a protest by shackling their hands in the Assembly.”
On the assembly grounds on Monday, BRS MLAs, including Harish Rao and Working President KT Rama Rao, demonstrated against the detention of the Lachcherla farmers by holding banners and yelling slogans.
The Telangana administration, headed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has come under fire from BRS Working President KT Rama Rao, who told ANI, “For the last 40 days in the CM’s constituency, more than 40 farmers have been jailed because the CM’s ego has been bruised.”
“I want to convey to the chief minister that tourism cannot be more crucial in light of the 40 farmers who have been imprisoned,” he said. We are calling for these farmers to be freed and the charges against them to be dropped.
In addition to denouncing the administration, BRS MLA Harish Rao claimed that tribal farmers had been subjected to torture while incarcerated.
At midnight, the farmers were taken into custody by the Revanth Reddy administration. They have been incarcerated for almost 30 days as of today. The administration is concentrating on talking about tourism, despite our insistence that this matter be brought up in the Assembly. These indigenous farmers endure abuse and imprisonment. Rao said, “Why does the government not want to address this in the Assembly?”
Mahesh Kumar Goud, a Congress MLC and the head of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), responded by denouncing the BRS for allegedly destroying the state’s infrastructure over the previous ten years.
“The chapter on Lagcherla Pharma City is concluded. There, the construction of an industrial infrastructure center has already been directed by the CM. The CM represents Kodangal, a backward constituency, and development initiatives are in progress,” Goud said. “The administration and the BRS party have not succeeded in improving industrial infrastructure during the last ten years. “They have no right to comment on future developments because they have destroyed the state,” he said.
CM Revanth Reddy was also commended by Goud, who said, “The CM is very committed to rural development.” Telangana needs to grow, particularly in its rural regions.
“Decentralizing development is our goal. The BRS has financially destroyed the state during the last ten years. Farmers will be freed in accordance with the law after being detained for attacking authorities. “This has nothing to do with the government,” Goud said.
Earlier in November, a number of people were taken into custody as Lagcherla villagers demonstrated against the planned purchase of their property by pharmaceutical corporations.
