Congress’ Sandeep Dixit criticises Kejriwal’s leadership while discussing possibility of alliance
New Delhi: In response to talks over the potential for an alliance, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit underlined that the partnership with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was “never in question.”.
“The alliance was never in question,” Dikshit said in an interview with media reports on Sunday. Because they were afraid of losing if they battled alone, the AAP persisted in introducing the concept. However, it is fortunate that the coalition did not form.
He continued by criticizing the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying that the city’s systems had collapsed as a result of his ten years in office. “Over the last ten years, Arvind Kejriwal has led Delhi to a point where the whole system has broken down. “He will lose because of these ten years of failure,” Dikshit said.
Dikshit also outlined Congress’s plan, which is to win over those dissatisfied with Kejriwal’s leadership. “Our plan is to draw in those who are dissatisfied with him… We will equate the impending promises with the glorious era of our history, and the disgruntled voters will approach us independently.”
Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), ruled out any chance of an alliance with the Congress on Wednesday, giving the impression that the INDIA bloc coalition for Delhi, which was created for the 2024 general elections, would not last long.
“The Aam Aadmi Party will be fighting this election on its own strength in Delhi,” Kejriwal said in a post on X. There is no chance for any kind of cooperation with Congress. This declaration followed rumors that the Congress and AAP were nearing an agreement to form an alliance for the Delhi poll.
Earlier, on December 7, Devendra Yadav, the president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, blamed the “deteriorating” law and order situation in the nation’s capital on the AAP and its national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal. Similar to how he had requested the resignation of previous chief minister Sheila Dixit during the Nirbhaya issue, Devendra Yadav similarly insisted that Kejriwal request the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi. The head of the Delhi Congress also said that women were disproportionately affected by a rise in crimes like rape, harassment, murder, snatching, gang fights, and firing.
The Congress party, which ruled Delhi for 15 years in a row, has not won any seats in the last two assembly elections. Early in 2025 is when Delhi’s Assembly elections are anticipated to take place. In the 2020 assembly elections, the BJP won eight seats while the AAP won 62 of the 70 seats.
