Opposition Indian Bloc today moved a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar
The Secretary General of the Upper House received a no-confidence resolution against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday from the Opposition INDIA group.
Congress lawmaker Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X that the INDIA group was forced to officially file a resolution of no-confidence against the chairman of the Rajya Sabha due to his very “partisan manner.”
“The learned Hon’ble Chairman of the Rajya Sabha has been conducting the Council of States’ sessions in an exceedingly biased way, forcing ALL parties in the INDIA group to officially file a no-confidence resolution against him. The choice has been very hard for the Indian parties, but they have been forced to make it for the sake of parliamentary democracy. In a post on X, Jairam Ramesh said, “The motion was recently submitted to the Rajya Sabha’s Secretary General.”
“TMC has left the Rajya Sabha,” said TMC leader Sagarika Ghosh. We have given in our motion of no-confidence in order to defend constitutional parliamentary democracy and to pursue our constitutional rights. The Modi administration is killing Parliament, which is why we gave it. People’s concerns cannot be brought up by the opposition.
According to TMC MP Sushmita Dev, the Constitution permits the opposition to file a resolution of no-confidence against the chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
“We want to bring up the public’s concerns. Our leader, Mamata Didi, has informed us that money intended for West Bengal, Manipur, inflation, and job difficulties need to be addressed. The BJP uses this as a means of avoiding discussing these crucial topics when they discuss other topics. We could completely destroy the BJP on these topics if there is a debate.
Because of the BJP’s obstruction of the House’s business, the TMC left the Rajya Sabha today. According to Sushmita Dev, the opposition’s no-confidence resolution against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar is permitted by the Constitution and does not violate any laws.
In addition to holding a demonstration on the grounds of Parliament, the Congress, headed by the INDIA group, has been calling for a debate on the Adani problem.
On Tuesday, a number of opposition MPs protested the Adani issue on Parliament grounds while holding black ‘jholas’ (bags) with the words ‘Modi Adani Bhai Bhai’ inscribed on the reverse side and caricatures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and billionaire Gautam Adani printed on them.
The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha’s Winter Session was suspended for the day on Tuesday due to rowdy incidents that erupted during the proceedings. The program for the day was disrupted by heated exchanges between parliamentary members from the opposition and government benches.
On November 25, the winter Parliament’s first session began, but because to interruptions, both Houses were adjourned somewhat early. The winter session is scheduled to conclude on December 20.
