Rahul Gandhi expressed grief over the demise of former Karnataka Chief Minister and Union Minister SM Krishna

New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, expressed sorrow on Tuesday over the passing of former Karnataka Chief Minister and Union Minister SM Krishna. He said that his decades of service had made a substantial contribution to the growth of Karnataka.

“I was saddened to hear about Shri S.M. Krishna’s demise. Bengaluru’s rise as a technology center and Karnataka’s progress were greatly aided by his decades of labor. Rahul Gandhi said on X, “My thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Mallikarjun Kharge, the head of the Congress, expressed his deep sadness at the death of former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna.

We are very grieved by the death of Shri S M Krishna, a former Karnataka chief minister and union minister. He made important contributions to the state and the country and was a great advocate of progress. We were coworkers at the state and national levels; thus, it is a personal loss for me,” Kharge said on X.

Kharge said that Karnataka’s development was greatly aided by his vision, commitment, and outstanding public service.

His vision, commitment, and outstanding public service were crucial to Karnataka’s advancement, and his strategy of striking a balance between growth and welfare left a lasting impression on Bengaluru’s revolutionary paradigm. His family, friends, and supporters have my sincerest sympathies,” he said.

Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, meanwhile, conveyed his deep sadness at the passing of SM Krishna, a former Union External Affairs Minister and Chief Minister.

The Governor emphasized SM Krishna’s enormous contributions to the growth of Karnataka and the country in his statement.

We are very grieved by the passing of S.M. Krishna, the former Union External Affairs Minister and Chief Minister. He dedicatedly served the state and the nation in a number of roles, including governor, state minister, and union minister. “The country has suffered an irreversible loss with his passing,” the governor said.

“I pray that his family finds the strength to bear this profound grief, and may his soul rest in peace,” the governor said, expressing his sincere sympathies to SM Krishna’s family.

In addition to expressing his sadness at the passing, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah said that the state will always be grateful to Krishna for his role in the expansion of IT-BT.

“I am shocked by the death of former Chief Minister SM Krishna,” Siddaramiah said in a post on X. As a state and union minister and chief minister, Krishna has provided unmatched service. His contribution to the development of the IT-BT industry, particularly in his capacity as Chief Minister, will always be appreciated by Karnataka.

Earlier in August, Krishna was admitted to the hospital after a protracted illness.

The 92-year-old Krishna was the chief minister of Karnataka from October 11, 1999, to May 28, 2004. He was also the governor of Maharashtra and the minister of external affairs in the United Progressive Alliance administration, which was headed by Manmohan Singh, from 2009 to 2012.

His almost 50-year affiliation with the Congress came to an end in March 2017 when he joined the BJP. Last year, he announced his retirement from active politics.
