BSF arrests three Bangladeshi nationals along Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura
Agartala: According to authorities, three Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian tout were taken into custody by the Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
A Nigerian national was also apprehended in a different operation for attempting to “exfiltrate to Bangladesh,” the BSF said in a statement on Monday.
Based on particular information, the BSF set up a unique ambush at Kaiyedhepa in Tripura’s Sepahijala district, where they apprehended Maxwel Nweke, a 34-year-old Nigerian citizen. The statement blamed Nweke for acting suspiciously while traveling along the Indo-Bangladesh border route and attempting to enter the neighboring nation.
Based on the Nigerian national’s intelligence, the BSF also detained Suraj Prasad, an Indian citizen who lives in Amtoli in the West Tripura region and is a designated tout. He was riding a motorbike away from the scene.
A 15-year-old Bangladeshi girl from Mangroli in the North Tripura district was taken into custody by BSF officers in another operation. She was trying to go over the border barrier and enter India. The girl lives in the Moulvibazar district of Bangladesh, in Chandpur village, which is under the jurisdiction of Kulaura Police Station.
Two people from Bangladesh were apprehended in a different operation while attempting to travel by train to Kolkata, West Bengal. Both live in Bangladesh’s Bagerhat district. According to the police, two children, Maryam Polan (1) and Md. Isha Polan (3), were among the arrested adults.
The Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and intelligence agencies collaborated to carry out the operation, which was based on classified information.
According to the police’s first questioning, the two people, named as Tahidul Polan, 26, and Rajifa Begum, 19, from Bangladesh’s Bagerhat, reportedly entered India illegally and intended to take a train to Kolkata, West Bengal.
Following GRP’s questioning of the prisoners in Agartala, the authorities believe that further people involved in this case may be taken into custody. The Bangladeshi nationals will appear in court on December 10 after a complaint has been filed at the Agartala GRP station.
To stop infiltration, exfiltration, and trans-border crimes, the BSF has stepped up its operations in Tripura along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
