Congress leader J Geeta Reddy hits out at opposition BRS over ‘Telangana Thalli’ remark
Hyderabad: Congressman J Geeta Reddy has criticized the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for its leaders’ “silly” comments on the ‘Telangana Thalli’ statue’s unveiling.
BRS chairman KT Rama Rao said on Monday that Congress was attempting to disparage Telangana by “changing” the monument. The BRS president urged people to resist the action, claiming that the statue displayed at the secretariat was not the mother of Telangana but rather Congress ‘Thalli,’ or the mother of Congress.
“Reacting to such absurd claims is unnecessary. That’s all. We did what we did. because Telangana was introduced by us. It is Thalli, our own leader. Therefore, there’s no need in questioning or asking us. They ought to embrace it. To have a Telangana Thalli as she is now is a choice made by the people and the administration,” Reddy told the media.
Additionally, Telangana Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha said that the BRS’s comments did not disturb them. The Telangana administration, he said, cared about people and their feelings.
“What they (BRS) are saying doesn’t concern us…All that matters to us are the individuals and their feelings.During the last nine years of their rule, they were unable to do this, but we succeeded,” Narasimha said.
Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy told the media that the BRS was “jealous.”
“This Telangana Thalli statue is excellent…Out of envy, they (BRS) are saying these things. remarked Uttam Kumar Reddy.
This comes after BRS chairman KT Rama Rao said on Monday that the statue’s alteration was an attempt by the Congress to disparage Telangana. The BRS president urged people to resist the action, claiming that the statue displayed at the secretariat was not the mother of Telangana but rather Congress ‘Thalli,’ or the mother of Congress.
“We got Telangana as a (separate) state after many years of struggle and losing young people as martyrs,” Kalvakuntla Taraka (KT) Rama Rao told the media. Today, the same Congress party that killed hundreds of people and others who had nothing to do with the Telangana struggle is attempting to disparage Telangana once again.
The idealistic ideals of the movement served as the foundation for Telangana Thalli’s installation. An alteration to the statue is being attempted. We are having a pretty depressing day. We think the monument that was presented today is not the mother of Telangana, but Congress Thalli, the mother of Congress. We want people to be against this action. When we take over in the next four years, we’ll replace the monument.”
BRS leader K. Kavitha had already criticized Congress for erecting the monument on Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. Accusing the Congress of manipulating Telangana emotions, she said that Chief Minister Reddy inaugurated the monument in order to get “brownie points.”
