Chennai police arrested two accused in the alleged gang rape of a mentally challenged student
Chennai: According to police, two suspects have been taken into custody, and at least seven others are being sought in connection with the alleged gang rape of a college student in Chennai who has mental health issues. The suspects were detained on Saturday after the complaint was filed at the Chennai All-Women Police Station.
According to a Chennai police source, the victim, who was enrolled at a private college in Chennai, had mental problems. She also disclosed the occurrence to her father, identifying two people from the Tiruvallur district: Naresh and Suresh.
Following the attack, the girl had serious health difficulties, including stomachache, according to the authorities. According to authorities, the two raped her repeatedly after taking her to a lodge on Chennai’s Wall Tax Road.
The victim’s father reported the incident to the Ayanavaram Police Station after learning about it. According to the preliminary inquiry, a common acquaintance who attended the victim’s college introduced her to the accused last year. A few others who became her friends on social media also raped her, according to the preliminary inquiry.
The investigation to apprehend the other suspects is still underway, but the police have identified those engaged in the rape. According to authorities, the victim’s father filed a complaint when she started receiving texts from unidentified individuals on her phone.
The police have filed a case under one provision of the Information Technology Act and eight sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). To find the accused responsible for the crime, four special teams have been established.
