BJP MLA Kalidas Kolambkar took oath at Maharashtra Raj Bhavan in presence of CM Devendra Fadnavis
Kalidas Kolambkar, an MLA for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), took the oath of office as Maharashtra’s pro-term speaker on Friday.
In the Maharashtra legislature, Kolambkar, a nine-term MLA, representing Mumbai’s Wadala seat.
In the presence of newly elected Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, the BJP MLA took the oath of office in the Maharashtra Raj Bhawan, which is run by state governor CP Radhakrishnan.
“I have received a message from the government to take oath as the pro-term speaker of the Maharashtra assembly,” Kolambkar said earlier today in an interview with ANI. The cabinet ministers will be chosen by the chief minister and the deputy chief minister.
Raju Waghmare, a senior of the Shiv Sena, denied earlier today that Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was upset over Devendra Fadnavis’ selection as chief minister and said that the party has provided all necessary support.
“The swearing ceremony was held yesterday, and we are now debating whether to expand the cabinet as well. Everyone will take an oath before to the session, which is set for the 17th. The parties are still debating this as well. Eknath Shinde and Shiv Sena are not unhappy; if they were, why would they attend the event to take the oath? All of this is false information, and we fully endorse it. Speaking to the media, Waghmare said, “He is trying to advance Maharashtra and has stated that work would be done in unity to advance the state.
He said that Sanjay Raut and the opposition had no jobs and were only cursing them.
“Sanjay Raut and the opposition are just mistreating us; they have no other job. We will also get provoked if they don’t become better. A region’s control is said to be over if Congress does not return for ten years. I’ve been in Congress myself, and it’s ended in a number of states, including Maharashtra,” he said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti coalition won a resounding victory with 235 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024. With 132 seats, the BJP became the single-largest party, marking a major turning point in the election. With 57 and 41 seats, respectively, the Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party also saw significant increases.
