Before Labor Day 2024, polls indicate Harris is turning the tables on Trump in an otherwise competitive battle
Labor Day 2024: Since President Joe Biden’s withdrawal in July, the presidential contest has undergone substantial change. In the election against Kamala Harris, Donald Trump is losing ground while having gained ground on his first Democratic opponent.
Two months remain before Election Day, and national and state polls conducted prior of Labor Day weekend in 2024 show that current Vice President Harris is leading Trump by a hair in the presidential race.
Joe Biden was not faring as well in the campaign as Kamala Harris was before he withdrew.
According to NBC News, Harris is behind her Republican opponent in almost every national poll by a little margin.
“How close we can reasonably expect a survey result to fall relative to the true population value” is how PewResearch defines a margin or error.
In contrast, Trump is remarkably holding onto an almost steady 47%. He is polling at 47% nationwide according to the Wall Street Journal, EPIC-MRA Michigan, and Bloomberg/Morning Consult polls in Georgia and Michigan. In any case, since Biden withdrew from the race, the poll numbers have reversed. It’s difficult to predict, however, whether Kamala Harris’ slim lead against Trump will hold steady or begin to decrease with time.
Change state polls
The surveys conducted by Bloomberg/Morning Consult indicate that Harris has surpassed Trump in Georgia (50%) and Michigan (49%), Nevada (50%) and Pennsylvania (51%), all with a margin of error. In contrast, in Wisconsin, she leads the Republican candidate by a margin greater than the margin of error (53%). Conversely, in Arizona and North Carolina, they are tied. This is in sharp contrast to the image that the polls painted of Biden during his unsuccessful bid for reelection in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina.
Even before the disastrous June 27 debate, Biden was lagging behind Trump in the polls until Harris assumed control of the ticket for this year’s elections. Harris is clearly doing better and is seen as a more trustworthy leader everywhere, despite the fact that he trailed Trump by narrow percentages in the swing states around the Great Lakes and by wider majorities in the Sun Belt.
She is also leading according to polls from the Wall Street Journal, Quinnipiac, and Suffolk/USA Today, with percentages of 48%, 49%, and 48%, respectively. In these surveys, Trump is now at 47%, 48%, and 43%.
