Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2 pm amid uproar on the sixth day of winter session of Parliament
Amid chaos in the Parliament on Tuesday, the sixth day of the winter session, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2:00 PM.
Dramatic events occurred on the sixth day of the Parliament when leaders of the INDIA bloc, including Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, DMK MP Kanimozhi, and AAP MP Sanjay Singh, among others, protested inside the building and called for a hearing on the Adani indictment.
Demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Adani case, protesting leaders hoisted banners and chanted a number of slogans.
To express their displeasure with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s response about the Minimum Support Price (MSP) problem, opposition MPs headed by the Congress left the lower chamber of parliament.
Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi posted images of the demonstration on Facebook with the caption, “Today, we are protesting at Makar Dwar, Parliament complex, asking the genuine question: Who will benefit from the billions of Adani, Modi ji? The prime minister’s lack of response says a lot.
According to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, the opposition’s six-day protest in Parliament has come to an end with this demonstration by INDIA bloc leaders. He went on to say that going forward, the opposition would work with the Parliament.
“There are several problems related to the policies of the Modi administration… In all honesty, it serves as a kind of obvious warning to the governing party that a lot of their initiatives have encountered fierce resistance throughout the nation. Even though we will be working together in the House starting this morning, there was a type of protest shot to be fired before we went out to discuss and take part in the parliamentary procedures. In essence, we are announcing the conclusion of the six-day protest in Parliament,” Tharoor said.
Since the start of the Winter Session, parliament has been at a standstill due to unrest in Manipur and Sambhal, as well as rallies by opposition parties over the Adani issue.
The Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned until noon on Monday and subsequently for the remainder of the day. November 25 marked the start of Parliament’s winter session, which will last until December 20.
