Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed grief over the devastation caused by cyclone Fengal in South India including Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

Vadra urged Congress employees to assist the government in providing relief efforts during the crisis and expressed her sympathies to those who lost loved ones.

Deeply grieved by the destruction that Cyclone Fengal has inflicted in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. I’m praying for those who have lost loved ones as well as others who are going through a lot of loss and adversity. In a post on X, Congress politician Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, an MP from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, urged all Congress employees to work together with the government to provide assistance and support during this trying time.

Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, encouraged Congressmen in Tamil Nadu to help the government with relief efforts on Tuesday. During the intense downpours brought on by the cyclonic storm, he sent his condolences to the families of those injured and died in the accidents.

According to official sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier on Tuesday contacted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin in reference to the severe floods that had occurred in several areas of the state. Sources claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised Tamil Nadu all assistance and support imaginable in response to the floods brought on by Cyclonic Storm Fengal.

CM Stalin restated his proposal that a central team be sent to evaluate the cyclonic storm’s damage.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin said on X, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi called me and asked about the serious damage Tamil Nadu caused during Cyclone Fengal.”

According to the chief minister, he informed the prime minister about the efforts being made by the Tamil Nadu government to help individuals impacted by Cyclone Fengal.

“I let our Prime Minister know that the state government is handling the disaster well and helping those who are impacted.” I sent my letter again.

asking for the dispatch of a central team to carry out a thorough evaluation of the harm inflicted by Cyclone Fengal, which has caused immense distress to the Tamil Nadu populace,” CM Stalin said.

“I firmly believe that the Prime Minister will immediately consider this request of Tamil Nadu and take appropriate steps,” CM Stalin wrote on X.

This followed CM Stalin’s request that PM Modi provide Rs 2,000 crores for repair and rehabilitation projects from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). He had pleaded with the Union administration to assign a central team to conduct a thorough damage assessment.

Due to Cyclone Fengal’s intense rainfall, all schools and institutions in four districts of Tamil Nadu would be closed on Tuesday.

District Magistrate Lakshmi Bhavya said on Tuesday that “due to heavy rainfall, all schools in the Nilgiris district will be closed on December 3, 2024.”

Chief Minister MK Stalin had earlier promised the families of seven individuals who died in a landslide in Thiruvannamalai district as a result of intense rains Rs 5 lakh ex gratia.
