Awami Party Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai urges UN to take cognizance of “brutal” treatment against PTI workers

Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the chairman of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, has called on the UN and human rights organizations to pay attention to the “brutal” treatment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists by the government during their demonstration in Islamabad, according to Dawn.

Speaking during a news conference, Achakzai said that state aggression had resulted in the deaths of several PTI employees and supporters as well as the injuries of hundreds more.

According to the Dawn article, he accused the government of hiding information about the deaths caused by the actions of security personnel and police against demonstrators who had come to Islamabad in defiance of obstacles at the request of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Achakzai, who is also the leader of the opposition coalition Tehreek Tahafuz-i-Aaian Pakistan, denied the government’s allegations that PTI members were violent. He demanded responsibility from those in charge of the abuse of power and asked for an impartial investigation into it.
