Off the coast of Kochi, the Indian Coast Guard launches Search and Rescue Exercise SAREX 11
Kochi: On Friday, the Indian Coast Guard launched the SAREX 11 search and rescue operation off the coast of Kochi. The eleventh iteration of the Indian Coast Guard’s National Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise, SAREX-24, has begun off the coast of Kochi today.
Rajesh Kumar Singh, the defense secretary, opened the event yesterday and spoke with international representatives. “DG S Paramesh, PTM, TM, and DGICG are reviewing the exercise,” the Indian Coast Guard said on X.
Rajesh Kumar Singh, the defense secretary, gave the ceremony its opening. The occasion was attended by S. Paramesh, Director General of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), the National Maritime Search and Rescue Coordinating Authority, and other dignitaries.
Rajesh Kumar Singh praised ICG’s contribution to the Indian Search and Rescue Region’s SAR services and support of the maritime fishing community.
Additionally, he promised that the government will support ICG in every way possible.
Under the auspices of the National Maritime Search and Rescue Board, the Indian Coast Guard is holding the 11th edition of its National Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise and Workshop (SAREX-24) at Kochi, Kerala, from November 28 to 29, 2024.
‘Enhancing Search and Rescue Capabilities via Regional Collaboration’ is the subject. It represents ICG’s dedication to provide assistance throughout the Indian Search and Rescue Region and beyond during major emergencies, irrespective of location, country, or situation.
Senior officials from government agencies participated in a variety of programs on the first day of the event, which included tabletop exercises, workshops, and lectures.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the ICG, Navy, and Indian Air Force ships and aircraft, as well as passenger ships and tugs from the Cochin Port Authority and boats from Customs, will participate in the sea exercise, which will involve two large-scale contingencies off the coast of Kochi on the second day.
