Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the Deopahar archaeological site in Numaligarh

Guwahati: On Wednesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the Deopahar archaeological site in Numaligarh, Golaghat district, and gave the Golaghat District Commissioner instructions to draft a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the site’s proper preservation and improvement.

Notably, the ruins of a stone temple at this location are thought to have been built during the tenth and eleventh centuries AD.

In Assam, Devparvat is a reminder of our old Sanatan civilization and a testament to the craftsmanship of our forefathers. The Ramayana and Mahadev’s Shivalinga are beautifully carved at this 11th-century archeological site. The Assam chief minister wrote on X, “Spent some time here.”

Highlighting the site’s significant spiritual and artistic significance, the Assam Chief Minister reiterated that the state government will take the required actions to ensure its preservation and further growth.

He gave the Golaghat District Commissioner instructions to draft a detailed project report (DPR) in order to preserve and improve the site in the proper manner.

Beautifully carved stone sculptures depicting myths surround the site, and the temple’s remnants serve as a reminder of the area’s rich architectural history.

These artifacts highlight the period’s spiritual and cultural ethos in addition to displaying a high level of creative mastery.

Deopahar’s surroundings, which are surrounded by lush hills and woods, continue to draw tourists because of its historical importance and natural beauty.

The Chief Minister was accompanied on this tour by the Golaghat District Commissioner, Member of Parliament Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Minister of Tourism Jayanta Malla Baruah, Minister of Agriculture Atul Bora, and other high-ranking state government officials.
