Imran Khan’s party alleged that government security forces attacked peaceful protesters during the rally
Islamabad: On Wednesday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf called the shooting of PTI demonstrators by Pakistani troops a “massacre… under the brutal, fascist military regime.”
The party of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the government’s security personnel attacked the nonviolent demonstrators during their demonstration in Islamabad.
“Under the harsh, fascist military regime headed by the establishment and PMLN’s illegal government, a massacre has taken place in Pakistan at the hands of security forces,” the PTI said in a post on X. Blood is soaking the country.
Armed security officers attacked nonviolent PTI demonstrators in Islamabad today, using live ammunition in an attempt to murder as many people as possible. Numerous bystanders were also killed with the deployment of snipers. The interior minister’s promise to murder and subsequent proclamation of “victory” over the massacre of innocent people, which resulted in many deaths and injuries, is sufficient proof of the regime’s inhumanity, the statement said.
“This tragedy and Pakistan’s decline in democracy and humanity must be denounced by the international community. “This ruthless crackdown must be strongly opposed by the international community,” it continued.
Four security guards and two PTI supporters were killed Tuesday as the rallies by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf party, which is calling for the release of its leader Imran Khan, became violent, according to the Dawn.
When the PTI demonstrators arrived at D-Chowk in Islamabad, they were greeted with heavy tear gas, which sparked a fight between the demonstrators and security personnel.
While Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that at least four security officers had been killed in the conflict, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denounced what he described as an “attack by protesters,” according to Dawn.
In the meantime, PTI claimed that two protesters were killed and four more were injured when security forces opened fire on them with live ammunition.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf demonstrators attacked Rangers and police officials in Islamabad, and Prime Minister Sharif condemned the event and demanded that those guilty be immediately identified and held accountable.
According to ARY News, the prime minister emphasized the need to give the Rangers and police officers hurt in the incident the best medical treatment possible and said that attacks on law enforcement officials under the guise of nonviolent demonstrations are completely unacceptable.
