Large flames could be seen from a distance Tuesday night when a fire broke out in the forest of the Bada Bhuin Panchayat in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh.
almost fifty hectares of dry grass land had burnt in the last two weeks, causing a financial loss of almost five lakh rupees, according to Sandeep Sharma, conservator of the Kullu Circle Forest Department.
In the last two weeks, some 50 hectares—including some plantations—have sustained damage. Additionally, there has been a loss of almost five lakh. Since our crews remained there till this morning, the evaluation of the prior forest fire has not yet been completed. Therefore, we won’t be able to determine the true loss until after the evaluation,” he said.
