The 6th India-Cyprus Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) took place on 26 November in Nicosia, Cyprus
On November 26, the sixth India-Cyprus Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) were held in Nicosia, Cyprus.
Ambassador Arun Sahu, Additional Secretary (Central Europe), and Thessalia Salina Shambos, Political Director, Cyprus’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the meeting.

Both parties examined the whole range of India-Cyprus bilateral relations during the deliberations, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
High-level discussions on topics including trade, investment, R&D, digitization, connectivity, education, culture, and interpersonal relationships were all part of this.
According to MEA, the talks also looked at ways to strengthen the two countries’ ties in important fields including technology, start-ups, fintech, and renewable energy.
On significant regional and international matters of shared concern, they shared their points of view.
Additionally, Ambassador Sahu met with Georgios Komodromos, Acting Permanent Secretary, Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy of Cyprus, and Ambassador Andreas S. Kakouris, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus.
The bilateral ties between Cyprus and India would be further strengthened as a result of the talks that took place during the consultations.
The next round of the FOC will take place in New Delhi on dates that work for both parties, according to the MEA.
The fight for freedom against colonialism and the shared adherence to global values of peace, democracy, human rights, peaceful dispute resolution, and the rule of law have brought people closer and strengthened the foundation of a strong friendship between Cyprus and India. The two countries have historically enjoyed excellent relations and shared historical experiences.
“The India-Cyprus partnership is of immense importance and rooted in shared values of democracy, diversity, pluralism, and respect for the law,” External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said during his first visit to Cyprus.
He said that “The strategic aspects of the relationship have gained a new meaning in recent years, reflected in our bilateral engagements” .
The External Affairs Minister’s declaration is reflected in the high-level meetings that ended in Nicosia on Tuesday.
