Anupam Kher reveals plans to direct a film titled ‘The Return’

While attending the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, veteran actor Anupam Kher has announced that he would be directing a co-production between Australia and India called “The Return.”

Kher spoke candidly about the project, which will be his second directing endeavor after “Tanvi The Great,” in an interview with media.

Kher said, “Yes, I have never sat idle,” when asked whether she had ever worked on a movie in Australia. I compose tales or consider novels while I’m not working. ‘The Return’ is the English movie I had a concept for around ten or twelve years ago. The main character in the narrative, which I penned, travels to a distant nation.

Kher said he presented the concept to Australian attendees of IFFI, which is focused on Australia this year.

“I told a few Australians about the story. The paperwork and approvals needed to make the movie a reality are now being worked on,” he said.

‘Tanvi The Great’ is already finished and will soon be available to the public, and Kher confirmed that The Return will come after it.

Over the course of his 35-year career, Anupam Kher has performed in over 540 films and 100 plays, collaborating with renowned filmmakers like as Woody Allen, David O. Russell, and Ang Lee. Silver Linings Playbook, Hotel Mumbai, and the television series New Amsterdam are some of his worldwide endeavors. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and has received the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian accolade.

The actor also spoke candidly about how failure influenced his success.

“My life might be seen as the culmination of all of my mistakes. I wrote a post today on the lecture that will be held in the evening in my master’s class. Before his lecture, the actor said, “I am the Success Story of My Failures.”

“My family was not wealthy. Even though I like playing games, I was the least successful student in my class. In spite of this, I have made 542 films and won several accolades in the last 40 years. The actor said, “I’ve come this far because of the way I see failure.

Kher’s performance in “Vijay 69” is now garnering him accolades.In the touching tale “Vijay 69,” a 69-year-old man called Vijay trains for a triathlon in defiance of social norms.
The YRF Entertainment movie, which was directed by Akshay Roy, debuted on Netflix on November 8.

Over 180 foreign films from 81 nations are on display at IFFI 2024, which started on November 20. Of them, 16 are world debuts, 3 are international premieres, 43 are Asian premieres, and 109 are Indian premieres.

According to Variety, the organizers have also included a tribute program to commemorate the 100th birthdays of four Indian movie icons: musician Mohammed Rafi, Telugu film star Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), director Tapan Sinha, and actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor.

The International Film Festival of India’s (IFFI) 55th edition will conclude on November 28.
