At a ceremony on Thursday in New Delhi, Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy Raj Rajiv Ranjan Singh presented the award to Uttarakhand Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries BVRC Purushottam.

‘Trout Farming Expansion,’ wherein the fisheries department has created over 1,400 trout raceways around the state, enhancing trout farming and production, is one of the state’s fisheries development milestones, according to the CMO. Under the Matsya Sampada Yojana, the state has created a wholesale fish market and a state-level aquapark at Udham Singh Nagar, which has greatly expanded the chances for fish farmers.

In terms of market connections, local fish farmers’ organizations and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) struck a historic deal for fish supply, giving farmers dependable market access and raising their revenue.

According to the CMO statement, these programs are a part of Uttarakhand’s coordinated efforts to support sustainable aquaculture, empower fish farmers, and diversify sources of income in the Himalayan area.

The Fisheries Department and fish producers were hailed by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on their recognition.

“This award demonstrates the state’s commitment and creative strategy for empowering farmers and advancing sustainable lives. Through a number of programs and initiatives, the government is still dedicated to raising farmers’ and livestock farmers’ incomes,” the Chief Minister was cited by CMO as adding.
