CM Sukhu said this on the High Court’s order to confiscate Himachal Bhawan for not paying the dues

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, said on Tuesday that the state government will take the arbitration dispute with a hydroelectric business to court since it was a legal matter.

His comments coincided with news that the state’s guesthouse, Himachal Bhawan, located next to Mandi House in the nation’s capital, was ordered to be attached by the Himachal Pradesh High Court owing to “unpaid dues” owed to Seli Hydro Electric Power Company.

According to Sukhu, there is no attachment to the property. “We want to fight this battle because it’s a legal one. The cost of this electricity plant was high up front. When we filed a petition, the High Court ruled in our favor. In the Brakel case, we had previously won the upfront premium case, in which the arbitration court had awarded Rs 280 crore. In a similar vein, we have appealed to the High Court against the arbitration court’s award of Rs 64 crore,” Sukhu informed the reporters.

“Jairam Thakur, a former Himachal chief minister and BJP politician, is involved in this case. Because we had submitted the evidence, the High Court ruled in our favor after he granted the Brakel business an incorrect Rs 280 crore arbitration award in his cabinet. He went on, “This is an arbitration battle.”
The Himachal Pradesh High Court’s decision to attach the Bhawan in Delhi has been described by Himachal Pradesh Advocate General Anup Kumar Rattan as a standard procedure. He also noted that the High Court’s reference of the Bhawan’s potential sale made it newsworthy.

The High Court’s ruling was part of an execution petition in which Seli Hydropower requested that the single judge’s ruling in their favor be carried out. The upfront premium of Rs 64 crore was requested because the government had failed to deposit the funds in the appellate court. As a result, the Executing Court issued this order in a standard procedure. However, the High Court’s ruling on the sale of Himachal Bhawan and the possibility of attaching this property has made this newsworthy.

The Congress administration under Sukhwinder Sukhu was chastised by BJP leader Jairam Thakur on Tuesday for failing to safeguard the state’s interests.

“The current administration has utterly wrecked Himachal Pradesh, and the individuals who were employed on the project are all dissatisfied with the government and are departing. This includes the manner that the investment that was supposed to enter the hydro sector under the guise of the new policy was handled. All of our projects with the Indian government, including those with SJVN, NTPC, and NHPC, as well as the agreements we previously had with them, have also been called into doubt,” he said.
