PM Narendra Modi watched the presentation of Ramayana in Brazil
On Tuesday (local time), Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a Ramayana performance in Brazil.
Students from Vishwa Vidya Gurukulam, a Brazilian organization devoted to advancing Vedanta and Sanskrit, performed the Ramayana.
‘Sanskrit Mantra’ was spoken by Jonas Masetti, better known as Acharya Vishwanath, the founder of Vishwa Vidya Gurukulam, to greet PM Modi.
As Masetti told Media, Ramayan is an homage to ‘Dharm’.
“Ramayan is a Dharm homage. Ram is a symbol of Dharm, and cleaning oneself and leading a better life may be achieved by doing Ramayan and connecting with Ram Katha. Preparation took almost six years. We were rather anxious and emotional at first since it meant a lot to us,” he added.
PM Modi was “very impacted” by the performance, according to Masetti. Additionally, he urged young Indians to embrace the Indian way of life.
“I’m delighted he was able to get that… Hearing that young people in India are not as interested in the Vedic culture and all the traditional methods makes me extremely sad. Don’t be fooled by the Western style of life, which you believe to be quite dry and impoverished. You live in a really pleasant culture,” he said.
Mariana Viana, who portrayed Lord Ram, said that she has spent the last eight years learning Sanskrit, Vedanta, and repeating mantras.
“I spent eight years studying Sanskrit, mantras, and Vedanta. We have been studying the Ramayan in our Sanskrit courses, and it is the route and journey of Ram in his struggle against evil and Adharma. We performed this adaption of the larger play, and being able to do so for the Indian Prime Minister is a gift and an honor,” she remarked.
According to Gleifer Vaz Alves, who portrayed Lord Hanuman, Hanuman is a symbol of dedication to the Dharma.
“We studied Sanskrit for more than three years in addition to spending more than a year preparing for the play, and I am very appreciative to my Sanskrit teacher for that. “Hanuman symbolizes the devotion to the Dharma, which is the primary lesson from Ramayana,” he stated.
At the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Brazil, PM Modi emphasized India’s contribution to the fight against poverty and hunger. On the fringes of the summit, he also hosted the second bilateral meeting between Australia and India.
