AR Rahman and his wife Saira have decided to separate after nearly three decades of marriage

After over thirty years of marriage, Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman and his wife Saira have made the decision to part ways.
On Wednesday, the composer announced the news on his X account, saying that while they had wanted to reach their “grand thirty,” life had other ideas.

“We had wanted to make it to the big thirty, but everything appears to have an end. The weight of wounded hearts may make even God’s throne shake. Even if the parts may not find their home again, we look for meaning in this breaking. As we navigate this delicate phase, we are grateful to our friends for their generosity and for protecting our privacy,” he said in his post on X.

During this time, their son Ameen also posted a plea for “privacy” on his Instagram Stories.

“During this time, we respectfully ask that everyone respect our privacy. He wrote, “Thank you for your understanding.”

Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen are the three children that AR Rahman and Saira had together since their 1995 marriage.

Rahman, meanwhile, received the ‘XTIC Award 2024 for Innovation’ from IIT Madras for his virtual reality film ‘Le Musk’. Through Believe Music, the internationally recognized composer also released the movie’s music.

Rahman has written classic soundtracks for movies including “Roja,” “Bombay,” “Dil Se,” “Lagaan,” and “Rockstar” throughout the years. His work on “Slumdog Millionaire,” for which he received two Academy Awards, brought him worldwide recognition.

Rahman has contributed to Hollywood productions including “127 Hours” and “Million Dollar Arm” in addition to Bollywood. Additionally, he has worked with international musicians such as will.i.am, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Mick Jagger.
