Congress leader Gehlot criticized the Election Commission and said this big thing
During the campaign for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections, Ashok Gehlot, a former chief minister of Rajasthan and a Congress politician, voiced harsh criticism of the Election Commission, saying it had not fulfilled its duties.
Gehlot said in an interview with ANI on Tuesday that the Election Commission was dormant and that many now believed it had to be sealed.
He said that while the poll body is crucial to preserving the nation’s democracy, it was unable to do this.
In light of the BJP’s election slogans, such as “batenge to katenge” and “ek hain toh safe hain,” Gehlot said his remarks were hazardous and were polarizing the whole electoral process.
He emphasized Congress’ stance on the important topics that ought to dominate the electoral conversation, such unemployment, inflation, and corruption.
“The Congress wants concerns like unemployment, inflation, and corruption to be the focus of the election campaign. By saying things like “batoge toh katoge” and “ek hain toh safe hain,” the BJP is attempting to polarize the whole process. This strategy is risky. This election is being fought on the basis of religion rather than issues, which is a dangerous trend. “Democracy is in danger,” Gehlot said.
“The Commission on Elections is dozing off… People believe that the Election Commission ought to be locked up these days. The Election Commission ought to be a key player in preserving the nation’s democracy, yet it is incapable of doing so. “This is our grievance,” he said.
Speaking on Maharashtra’s political situation, Gehlot proposed that the state’s next government will be formed by the opposition INDIA alliance, highlighting the dissatisfaction of the populace with the way the previous administration fell, purportedly due to horse-trading.
“The INDIA alliance is surrounded by an aura. People are angry about how the administration was overthrown via horse-trading, and the governance was also subpar. They performed very well while the INDIA alliance was present. The formation of the INDIA alliance in Maharashtra is what I am forecasting,” he said.
Gehlot went on to discuss the political situation in Jharkhand, pointing to the success of the Congress’ guarantee card in their election pledge for the state’s women, youth, and farmers. He also expressed optimism in the INDIA alliance’s chances there.
“Jharkhand’s status is likewise favorable. “Given the atmosphere of the guarantee card reaching every household and the five guarantees for women, youth, and farmers, the INDIA alliance is expected to form the government there,” he added.
Voting in 43 of the 81 assembly seats was finished on November 13 to wrap up the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections. The remaining 38 seats in Jharkhand and the 288 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly will be held on November 20.
