BRS sought time to meet President Draupadi Murmu, know why

In order to bring attention to the situation of the residents of Lagachrala village in Telangana’s Vikarabad district, who reportedly suffered police violence after protesting against a “forced” land acquisition, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) requested an appointment with President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday.

In order to draw attention to the situation of the villagers, who they claim have been the victims of sexual assault, police violence, and focused land acquisition by the State government, the BRS leaders are attempting to submit a representation before President Murmu.

The local police allegedly targeted the locals after they objected to the “forcible” purchase of property for a pharmaceutical village project. Residents of Kodangal consituency’s Lagacharla hamlet said that throughout the last nine months, police had unlawfully detained and assaulted Adivasi family members for demonstrating.

According to reports, President Murmu’s office authorities have asked for details on the purported crackdown on Adivasis in the hamlet of Lagacharla.

The ladies from the hamlet who had traveled to Delhi, the nation’s capital, filed a complaint against the Telangana government with the ladies and National Human Rights Commission and the SC/ST Commission on Monday.

The indigenous women said that they would remain here until their opinions were taken into consideration.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) denounced the Telangana administration led by Congress Chief Minister Revanth Reddy during a news conference yesterday in New Delhi. He exposed Rahul Gandhi’s and the Congress leadership’s duplicity and said that the Congress-led government was repressing underprivileged tribal groups.

“Rahul Gandhi often discusses defending the rights of women, farmers, and tribal people. However, Revanth Reddy, the chief minister of his own party, oversees atrocities in Telangana. Does Rahul Gandhi not hear the pleas of Kodangal’s farmers and tribal women? KTR inquired.

He exposed the hypocrisy of Congress, pointing out that the same group that says it opposes crony capitalism is also seizing tribal lands to support corporate initiatives. While Rahul Gandhi condemns crony capitalism, he says nothing about Revanth Reddy’s pharmaceutical land grab. “This is the double standard of Congress,” he said.

He called on the Congress and the BJP to speak up and deal with these urgent problems. “Despite his claims to be a friend of the underprivileged, Rahul Gandhi’s behavior betrays this. He insisted that Rahul Gandhi hold his Chief Minister responsible and put a stop to Revanth Reddy’s despotism.

Village residents said at yesterday’s news conference that they would set up camp in Delhi until their demands were fulfilled. “There is nowhere else for us to go. We will fight to the end because our lands are our life,” they said.

“The Congress government has gone beyond the bounds of tyranny,” said Satyavati Rathod, a BRS MLC. Farmers who refuse to give up their farms face death threats from the brother of the chief minister. Children and women are not exempt from this cruelty.

She underlined that the victims would get steadfast support from the BRS party. “Until justice is served, we won’t stop. “The atrocities occurring in Telangana under Congress rule must be known to the entire country,” she remarked.

MPs Eatala Rajender and D K Aruna were detained at Moibnabad on their approach to the Lagacharla hamlet, according to BJP leader Prakash Reddy’s statement on November 18.

Regarding the violent attack on the Vikarabad district collector and other revenue officials in Lagcherla village of Dudyal Mandal in Vikarabad district on November 14, the police mentioned BRS Working President and MLA, KT Rama Rao, in the remand report.

This follows BRS MLA Patnam Narender Reddy’s arrest on November 13 morning in relation to the Vikarabad collector assault.

The police claim that Patnam Narender Reddy acknowledged his involvement in a criminal plot aimed at undermining the Congress administration and advancing his own political agenda.

Patnam Narender Reddy admitted to committing this crime with criminal conspiracy, according to the remand report of the November 11 Vikarabad collector assault event. It goes on to say that he did this in accordance with instructions from KTR and other important BRS leaders.

According to the remand report, “In pursuance to the confession of the accused person(s) and its fresh revelation, the accused Patnam Narender Reddy was apprehended on 13-11-2024 at 07:02 hours at his house at Film Nagar at Hyderabad and brought to camp at CI office at Parigi at 0930 hours.”

“On tactful interrogation he confessed to have committed this offence with criminal conspiracy by abetting the accused persons in order to destabilize/deteriorate the Govt. and also to gain political mileage and defame the government of Telangana as per the directions of their party prominent leader i.e., KTR and others,” it added.

The assault on the Vikarabad collector was denounced by Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who added, “We don’t prohibit people from demonstrating if they don’t like the government’s decision. There was an assault on an IAS official. It’s a negative thing. What is the position of your party, KTR? Are you in favor of attacking the officer? Strict measures will be implemented, and the police will be protected.”

A group of farmers and peasants in Lagcherla village in Dudyal Mandal, Vikarabad district, threw stones and damaged the District Collector’s cars, causing the incident.
Police said the locals shouted ‘Go back’ and threw stones at the Vikarabad Collector’s car. The locals also assaulted another Kodangal RDO level officer.

There were several conflicts among the locals during the Collector’s visit, according to the Vikarabad Additional Superintendent of Police (SP). “The Collector came to gather public support for the Pharma City property purchase. “His visit was unplanned and unexpected,” the SP stated.

According to police, Patnam Narender Reddy was arrested on Wednesday because he attacked district authorities in the Vikarabad district at a public hearing on land acquisition.
After some residents of Lagacharla village demonstrated against the planned purchase of their lands for pharmaceutical corporations, a number of them were taken into custody on suspicion of assaulting police.
