Malayalam cinema : Due to this, Movie Artists Siddiqui resigned from the post of General Secretary of (AMMA)
Malayalam cinema : The young lady recalled her first encounter with well-known Malayalam actor Siddique, whom she has accused of raping her in 2016, saying, “He called me’moley’ (daughter).”
The actor’s wife had first made the accusation in 2019. Siddique resigned on Sunday as general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), a powerful organization in the industry, after she repeated the accusation after the publication of the Justice Hema Committee report.
“I’m sick of having to explain what happened to me over and again. My body is worn out. The 28-year-old lady admitted to being psychologically exhausted to the media. She said that actors’ organizations had not offered her assistance in the years after she originally made the accusations public in a Facebook post in 2019.
She did, however, express satisfaction at receiving “some attention” from actors and the media, given that the Hema Committee report, which was published last week, has brought attention to the problems encountered by women in the Malayalam film industry.
The lady said that she messaged Siddique after first meeting him online, and that he then offered her a part in a future movie if they ever met. She stated that when they first met in 2016 at a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, he asked her if she could “make some adjustments” for him. “At first, I wasn’t sure what he really meant,” the woman said. She then stated that Siddique had sexually assaulted her in the hotel room while also engaging in public masturbation. She said, “I was scared for my life.”
After the purported encounter, the lady kept the details private for three years. She had supporting parts in Malayalam movies at this period. But she didn’t decide to share her personal story on Facebook until after the reported kidnapping and rape of a well-known female actress in the Malayalam film business in 2017 and the conversations around the case involving notable Malayalam cinema players in the years that followed.
In relation to this occurrence, I was seeing the guy who had sexually assaulted me on TV. I found this to be very triggering,” she said. “At that time, I had no support from anybody. I eventually had the courage to deal with all the fallout,” she added, adding that the Facebook post caused her to lose her position in the film business and attract hate mail.
She told her experience to Malayalam TV networks once again on Saturday. “I told everyone what happened to me because I felt like I should tell people about the harassment that some people in the film industry inflict on women, especially in light of the Hema Committee report,” she added.
According to the female actress, Siddique should now be barred from film sets for an extended period of time. She said that since making the accusations, she has been the target of further internet criticism. She acknowledged that she is already under a lot of strain but insisted that she wouldn’t give up.
