Ahead of Maharashtra assembly elections, Rs 2.5 crore cash seized in Nerul, Navi Mumbai
Thane: As part of the model code of conduct for the Maharashtra assembly elections scheduled on November 20, Thane Police confiscated almost Rs 2.5 crore in cash from a rowhouse in Sector 16 of Nerul in Navi Mumbai, authorities said Monday.
The Election Commission and Thane Police worked together to seize the money.
“The money was taken from a rowhouse by us. We’re looking into where it originated from and whose money it is. Senior Inspector Bramhanand Naikwadi informed the media that the Election Commission and the police worked together to make the seizure.

Votes will be tallied on November 23 after the Maharashtra Assembly elections, which are scheduled for November 20.
