On Tuesday, November 12, at 12:15 AM, the recently merged Air India-Vistara company conducted its inaugural flight from Doha to Mumbai, according to reports. After Vistara and Air India merged on Monday night, the airline’s flight code would now read “AI2XXX” instead of “UK.”

AI2286, which left Doha to Mumbai at 12:15 AM, would be the first international flight operated by the combined company. The first scheduled domestic flight, AI2984, is scheduled to depart at 1:20 AM from Mumbai to Delhi. Prior to the merger, both flights were run under Vistara’s flight codes; they will now be a part of Air India’s operations.

The last flight operated by Vistara as a stand-alone airline is UK115, which leaves Delhi for Singapore at 11:45 PM on Monday, November 11.

“To stay, experience Vistara”

Vistara is a joint venture between Tata and Singapore Airlines, and both Air India and Vistara are a member of the Tata Group. Pilots of Vistara assured passengers on flights on the day of the merger that they could still have the same first-rate experience under the Air India name.

“As an unforgettable legacy takes its final flight, a new journey on the horizon awaits,” IndiGo said in a touching parting homage to Vistara on social media. Farewell, @airvistara. The future holds #ToLimitlessPossibilities. #goIndiGo.
