After Rahul Gandhi, a Congress politician, was elected to the Lok Sabha from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh in the general elections earlier this year, he relinquished the Wayanad seat.

On October 15, after the Election Commission of India’s announcement of the by-election date, the Congress party endorsed Priyanka Gandhi’s candidacy.

Following the submission of her nomination papers for the Wayanad Lok Sabha elections on October 26, Vadra sent an open letter to the Wayanad populace.

She conveyed her strong bond with the constituency and her dedication to serve the people in a letter titled “My Dear Sisters and Brothers of Wayanad” that was posted on X. She promised to work closely with the populace to solve their issues, particularly those that the women and indigenous tribes suffer.

Furthermore, when Rahul Gandhi urged her to run from the seat, Priyanka Gandhi recognized the pride and pain she felt. This was in reference to her brother’s affinity with Wayanad. She pledged to continue advocating for their needs and concerns in Parliament and gave the people her word that she would be committed to expanding on her brother’s foundation.

“I promised Rahul Gandhi that my work here will serve to deepen this bong and that I will do all I can to fight for you and represent you in the way that you wish to be represented in the Parliament,” Priyanka Gandhi said in her letter.

Priyanka Gandhi also emphasized that she would give new possibilities for women and concerns impacting tribal people top priority. Her devotion to “creating new opportunities to strengthen your future” was profound, she said.

“Priyanka Gandhi also discussed the destruction brought about by the landslide and the losses incurred by the populace in her letter. “Through the darkness of the tragedy, what shone through to me was your immense courage and fortitude as a community,” she said in her letter.

The congress leader also discussed how crucial it is to preserve Wayanad’s rich cultural legacy and scenic beauty in order to support the region’s growth.

Before submitting her nomination, she staged a huge roadshow. The UDF’s key leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, took part in roadshow C.

On November 13, voters will cast ballots in Wayanad as well as bye-elections for 47 assembly seats spread across 15 states. On November 13, Jharkhand will also hold its first round of legislative elections.
