PM Modi to inaugurate Tata Aircraft Complex for C-295 aircraft production in Gujarat today
Gujarat: The first private sector final assembly line for military aircraft in India will be inaugurated on Monday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Spanish colleague Pedro Sanchez at the Tata Aircraft Complex for C-295 aircraft manufacture in Vadodara, Gujarat.
A major turning point in India’s “Make in India” defense strategy, 56 aircraft are planned under the C-295 program, of which 16 will be supplied directly from Spain by Airbus and the rest 40 will be produced by Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) in India.
Two leaders will conduct a roadshow on Monday morning that will go up to 2.5 kilometers from the airport to the Tata Advanced Systems hub in advance of the defense facility’s opening.
India Increases Defense Manufacturing
The arrangement calls for the construction of 40 aircraft at the Vadodara site, with 16 of those aircraft being delivered directly by aviation giant Airbus.
It will include the comprehensive construction of a whole ecosystem, from the aircraft’s manufacturing and assembly to its testing and certification, delivery, and maintenance.
Leading defense public sector companies like Bharat Electronics and Bharat Dynamics, in addition to the Tatas, will support this initiative via private micro, small, and medium-sized businesses.
In October 2022, Modi laid the cornerstone for the Vadodara final assembly plant.
Vadodara is Prepared to Receive Both Leaders
Following the aircraft complex’s opening, authorities announced that Modi and Sanchez will have a bilateral lunch meeting at the famous Laxmi Vilas Palace, the home of the former Baroda royal family.
Vadodara MP Hemang Joshi said, “The two PMs will hold a joint roadshow along the route from the airport to the Tata Advanced System facility on Monday morning, with cultural shows being organized en route.”
The 70-vehicle roadshow route and the 10-kilometer route from the Tata factory to Laxmi Vilas Palace were used for ground rehearsals by the Vadodara municipal police.
“The Ministry of External Affairs has scheduled a bilateral meeting between the two presidents at Laxmi Vilas Palace. Before leaving for their individual locations, they will have lunch in the palace,” authorities said.
Sanchez arrived around midnight on Sunday, despite his original plan to get in Vadodara by 10 p.m., according to a senior officer.
A notice on the Sunday night route detour was canceled due to the late arrival of the Spanish prime minister, according to Jyoti Patel, deputy commissioner of police (traffic).
“Due to the movement of VVIPs, the city traffic police have issued an order regarding the diversion of routes for Monday,” she stated.
Around 10 AM, two PMs will mark the opening of the TATA Aircraft Complex.
Following his tour of the Laxmi Vilas Palace, Modi will go to Amreli, where he will officially open the Bharat Mata Sarovar in Dudhala at about 2:45 PM. According to a PMO announcement, he will officially launch and lay the groundwork for a number of development projects totaling more than Rs 4,800 crores in Lathi, Amreli, at about 3 PM.
The Dholakia Foundation and the state government worked together to create the “Bharat Mata” Sarovar project using the public-private partnership (PPP) concept.
