US Vice President Kamala Harris declares her intention to be the leader of “all Americans.”
Pennsylvania: With the presidential election less than two weeks away, US Vice President Kamala Harris declared her intention to lead “all Americans.”
Before leaving for campaigning in Georgia, Harris told reporters at a news conference that she is seeing equal numbers of men and women discussing their worries about the survival of democracy.
In less than two weeks, the US will have elections, with Vice President Kamala Harris seeking her first term in the White House and former President Donald Trump seeking a second term.
“Americans want a president who takes on the challenges they face and leads the country with optimism,” Kamala Harris said. She said that Donald Trump had taken away people’s basic freedoms.
“I have to be honest with you, it’s not what I see in terms of my rallies, in terms of the interactions I’m having with people in communities and on the ground,” Harris said when asked about her opinions on the gender gap issue in polls and why she believes she has more support among women than Trump. In equal measure, I see men and women discussing their worries about the future of our democracy and expressing their desire for a president who leads with optimism and tackles the issues we face, such as grocery prices, small business investments, and homeownership.”
She went on to say, “I honestly don’t see that type of difference, and I want to serve as president for all Americans. And yes, that entails paying attention to a fundamental freedom that Donald Trump has taken away from women: the freedom to make decisions about their own bodies. It also entails prioritizing the economic needs of American families and individuals as well as what we must do to maintain our power and reputation internationally.”
She also addressed the border problem, calling it her “highest priority” to provide resources to secure the US border. Harris promised to introduce and sign the bipartisan border security measure into law if elected.
When asked if she would continue to build a wall along the southern border during her administration, Harris responded, “I will tell you that my highest priority is to put the resources into ensuring that our border is secure, which is why I’ve been very clear: I’m going to bring back up, as president, that bipartisan border security bill and make sure that it is brought to my desk so I can sign it into law.”
She said, “The worst challenge we are now facing is that Donald Trump has blocked what might have been a tried and true component of the answer to the larger issue, which is that America’s immigration system is dysfunctional and has to be fixed. We have the resources available, but Donald Trump, the opposition candidate, would rather run on a platform of problem-solving than problem-solving.I want to address the issue in a manner that focuses only on workable solutions that, with enough dedication, are within our grasp.”
At a star-studded event outside Atlanta on Thursday (local time), Kamala Harris will campaign with former US President Barack Obama for the first time in Georgia, according to ABC News.
According to ABC News, Bruce Springsteen, whose songs have been included by several Democratic presidential contenders, will play at the rallying performance.
According to the story, Harris and former US First Lady Michelle Obama are scheduled to visit Michigan on Saturday. Both Barack and Michelle Obama spoke at the Democratic National Convention in August and backed Harris in July.
Speaking to reporters in Philadelphia on Thursday, Harris said she is “honored” to have Bruce Springsteen and Barack Obama at her campaign events when they were asked whether she received their support.
