CCTV evidence from the Kolkata doctor rape case shows perpetrator Sanjoy Roy observing the victim the day before the assault
Kolkata doctor rape case: Following the discovery of CCTV evidence proving Sanjay Roy’s proximity to the victim before to the crime, the accused in the horrific rape and murder case involving a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, is coming under more scrutiny.
The video shows Sanjay Roy, a 33-year-old hospital volunteer who is a civic volunteer, watching the victim and was caught gazing at the camera, according to sources that media said.
According to the report, Roy admitted to the police that he had seen the victim, who was thirty-one, on August 8, the day before the assault, while in the chest medicine unit. CCTV evidence substantiates this assertion.
In the meanwhile, CBI sources said that Roy had no regrets when being questioned and that he was a “sexual pervert” with “animal-like instincts.”
National Task Force is established by the Supreme Court
In order to provide recommendations for rules for the safety of medical workers, the Supreme Court established a National Task Force after taking suo motu notice of the case. The CBI is now looking into the situation.
Health workers at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), in Delhi, have concluded their 11-day strike and returned to work on Thursday, after a Supreme Court appeal.
“In the interest of the nation and public service, the RDA, AIIMS, New Delhi, has decided to end the 11-day strike,” the statement from the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) said. This ruling complies with the appeal and guidance from the Supreme Court. We are very appreciative of the Supreme Court’s attention to the RG Kar Medical College tragedy as well as the larger national safety and security concern for healthcare personnel.
Prior to this, the Supreme Court told medical personnel to go back to work and gave them the assurance that they would not face any negative consequences for doing so during the hearing of the doctor rape and murder case in Kolkata.
Doctor rape and murder case in Kolkata
This comes after a young doctor in Kolkata was raped and killed on August 9, sparking major demonstrations and strikes within the medical community.
The court also ordered for a progress report on the probe from the Central Bureau of probe (CBI) and a report on the mob violence at RG Kar Hospital on August 15 from the West Bengal administration.
