Kamala Harris’ campaign and allied Democratic group raised $1 billion in campaign funds

US ELECTION: In the closing stretch of the presidential race, Kamala Harris’ campaign and associated Democratic organizations collected over $633 million for the quarter that concluded last month, bringing their total to over $1 billion. This gave them a significant financial edge over Republican contender Donald Trump.

In September alone, the Democratic National Committee, state parties, and the campaign of the vice president collected about $359 million. In September, Harris’s campaign brought in almost $222 million. In an effort to reach voters via billboards, radio, television, the internet, and other media, Harris’ team alone spent over $270 million last month—more than it received in revenue.

Federal reports show that the Harris campaign and associated groups have $346 million on hand as of October 1.

Prior to September, the Trump campaign, the Republican National Committee, and associated organizations claimed to have raised $160 million, an increase from the $130 million they claimed to have raised in August. At the beginning of October, they had $283 million in the bank.

Prior to submitting financial documents, Harris’s campaign did not reveal its quarterly revenue. This was a departure from the norm, since it revealed substantial monthly totals that have much surpassed the sums gathered by Trump and the Republicans since Harris succeeded President Joe Biden at the head of the ticket in July.

However, the Harris campaign said on Sunday night that 95% of their contributions in the third quarter came in under $200, ahead of its most recent reports. Over 13.1 million donations were given to Harris by around 6 million contributors, including 4.3 million individuals who gave for the first time this election season, according to the campaign.

According to the vice president’s staff, over one late September weekend, she went on a fundraising campaign in California and raised $55 million. At a gala in Los Angeles with a star-studded lineup that included Jessica Alba, Lily Tomlin, and Stevie Wonder, she raised $28 million. In addition, she raised $27 million during an event in San Francisco that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attended.

Over the previous weekend, Harris held a lavish gala in New York City that brought in $27 million.
