Emergency declared at Thiruvananthapuram airport after bomb threat on Air India plane

Thiruvananthapuram: An Air India aircraft from Mumbai got a threat on Thursday, prompting the Thiruvananthapuram airport to declare a complete emergency amid an increase in bomb scare incidents around the country, according to sources cited by media.

According to the agency, the aircraft was placed in isolation bay while the passengers were evacuated.

According to sources who spoke to media, there were 135 people on board. Further information on the threat’s origins and other specifics are still pending.

A bogus hijack threat recently caused a significant delay for Vistara Flight UK-966, which was scheduled to take off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. Shortly before takeoff, the airline received a concerning email, which prompted quick security protocol changes.

The bomb fear comes only months after bomb threat emails were received by over 41 airports nationwide on Tuesday. After hours-long anti-sabotage investigations by security services, each of the emails was determined to be a fake.

Bomb threats to malls and hospitals:

On Tuesday, emails threatening to attack hospitals and retail centers in the Delhi-NCR were received by at least 100 times. Search operations were conducted at the areas by police officers, explosives detecting teams, and dog squads.

A number of hospitals have received bomb threats, including AIIMS, Safdarjung Hospital in Ansari Nagar, Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj, Max Hospital in Saket, Primus Hospital in Chanakyapuri, Apollo Hospital in Sarita Vihar, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Rajender Nagar, and Manipal Hospital in Dwarka.

Authorities were forced to evacuate the premises when threats were conveyed to other well-known shopping centers, such as Chanakya Mall in Chanakyapuri, Select CityWalk and DLF Mall in Saket, Pacific Mall in Tagore Garden, North India Mall in Indirapuram, and Ambience Mall and Cinepolis in Gurgaon.
