Kamala Harris is a “person of deep faith which is reflected in her community care and service,” according to the former House Speaker, who also praised the vice president for being politically “astute and strategic in winning difficult elections.”

Pelosi said that working in Congress with Tim Walz, Harris’ running partner, had been “an honor.” She applauded the governor of Minnesota for voting in favor of the Affordable Care Act and highlighted his win in a red area.

“Never before had an American president so blatantly attacked the foundation of our democracy.”
The assault on the US Capitol building on January 6, 2021, according to Pelosi, demonstrated that “our democracy is only as strong as the courage and commitment of those entrusted with its care.” She attacked Donald Trump, saying, “Never before had a president of the United States so gleefully embraced political violence, so willfully betrayed his oath of office, so brazenly assaulted the bedrock of our democracy.”

“Remember who attacked democracy on January 6th. Yes, he did. But let’s not overlook the person who that day preserved democracy. We did,” she continued.

Additionally, Pelosi said that “we must choose leaders who respect the peaceful transfer of power and who believe in free and fair elections.” The decision is as obvious as it gets. Governor Walz and Vice President Kamala Harris are such leaders, she said.

Pelosi is said to be among those who had doubts about Joe Biden’s campaign’s chances of success. It is said that she confided in the president that polls indicated he would never be able to defeat Trump. It is also thought that Pelosi backed Walz when he was emerging as a potential vice presidential candidate.
