The Las Vegas Raiders traded Adams to the New York Jets in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick

Once again, Davante Adams is moving on to better things.
Adams was reunited with former Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers on Tuesday when the Las Vegas Raiders sold Adams to the New York Jets for a conditional third-round draft selection.

Before putting on his Jets jersey for the first time, Adams—a lifelong Raiders supporter who grew up in Palo Alto, California—wrote a message to the Las Vegas fans as he was leaving town.

“Thank you for your relentless passion and unwavering support when I put on the historic shield every Sunday,” Adams said on his Instagram account. “From Oakland to Las Vegas, Raider Nation has and will always be a part of my family.”

To put it mildly, Raiders fans were not pleased.

One fan commented in the comment area, saying, “Thanks for doing this in the offseason and not quitting on your team midseason!”

“‘Once a raider, always a raider’ doesn’t apply to you,” said a different admirer on Facebook.
Prior to the 2022 NFL season, Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he joined Derek Carr, his former Fresno State quarterback. However, trade speculations about Adams started to circulate when the Raiders parted company with Carr in 2023, and they didn’t really stop until he was formally transferred on Tuesday.

Over the course of two and a half seasons, Adams played 37 games for the Raiders, starting every 17 games in 2022 and 2023 before missing three this season due to a hamstring injury. In Raiders uniforms, he had two seasons with 1,000 yards and a touchdown. Through three games this season, he has 18 receptions for 209 yards and a score.

On Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Adams is anticipated to make his Jets debut after his recovery from a hamstring injury.
