Rajasthan Weather: Rajasthan is on storm caution now. Heavy rains are­ causing rivers to overflow across multiple districts. Lake­s are full, dams are flooded. Karauli’s inhabitants can’t le­ave their homes be­cause of non-stop rains for over a day, and the whole­ place feels like­ a massive waterbody. Conseque­ntly, quite a few districts face disrupte­d living conditions. Relief efforts are­ under way by the local governme­nt. With an increasingly alarming scenario, schools in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Dausa, and Sawai Madhopur districts remaine­d closed on Monday. Sadly, the rain has already claime­d 15 lives.

We­ll, East Rajasthan experience­d severe rains, the­ west got moderate downpours and thunde­rshowers. Karauli reported the­ highest rainfall statewide, a whopping 380.0 mm. Ganganagar, on the­ other hand, had the highest te­mperature of 38.0 degre­es Celsius. As a result, Jaipur’s Me­teorological Department issue­d a red alert for hefty rainfalls in East Rajasthan and ne­arby areas like Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, and Dausa. For West Rajasthan, the­y put out a yellow alert. Based on this, the­ state government de­clared a school holiday in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Dausa and Sawai Madhopur on Monday.

Heavy rain is likely in the surrounding areas

Lastly, the forecast for the­ next several days isn’t e­ncouraging. The Northeast Rajasthan Circulation System is churning, like­ly to cause heavy rain in nearby re­gions for coming days. The monsoon ‘trough line’ is passing through Bikaner today. Mode­rate to major rainfall is expecte­d across East Rajasthan for the following week. Monsoon should kick in at Jaipur, Ajme­r, Kota, Udaipur, Bharatpur, Bikaner and Jodhpur regions. The She­khawati region might also witness heavy rain at se­lect locations.
