Champions League: Due to past disruptions, PSV Eindhoven fans have been prohibited by French officials from attending this month’s Champions League match against Paris St. Germain, according to the Dutch team.

In an announcement released on Monday, PSV said that the choice was unexpected and that 2,000 of their supporters who had already bought tickets for the match on October 22 would get a refund.

The Eredivisie team said, “PSV supporters are not allowed to travel to or within Paris.”

“Despite the fact that PSV had no penalties outstanding, French police are citing past disturbances with supporters… there are also some domestic security issues at play.”

During a 1-1 tie between PSV and RC Lens in October, supporters flung items at one another. After crowd unrest following a 1-0 defeat at Arsenal, the Dutch team was also mandated to play one European match in 2022 without the presence of its away supporters.

After two Champions League games, PSG has three points, while PSV has only one.
