To avoid any clashes, police have been asked by media to beef up security presence in every district while DGP UR Sahoo also stated that SPs were ordered to maintain law and order with respect to Bharat Bandh.

“Also, we requested our officers to meet market associations and other groups which are supporting the bandh so as to foster better collaboration,” the DGP told media.

Why Bharat Bandh?

States can carve out sub categories within the SC and ST groupings- is what recent reports suggest citing “those who really need it should get priority in reservation” as the reason behind this ruling by Supreme Court…. Reports claim that states can create other classes within SC and ST groups because “those who genuinely require it must be given first preference”.

With regards to these reserving matters, our source revealed that this judgement has sparked off fiery debates making Bharat Bandh an event that will be staged in order to challenge and demand overturning of Supreme Court’s reservation decision.

Such political and social entities are expected to rally behind Bharat Bandh.

It aims at highlighting unfairness of court ruling through protests.

2024 Bharat Bandh: Safety measures

Top cops held a video conference meeting over fear of violence during bandhs; all divisional commissioners; district magistrates along with top brass were present at the conference according to sources.

Because Western Uttar Pradesh is considered more sensitive than other parts of UP state therefore police there has received high alert orders. To ensure safety of people during demonstrations significant precautionary measures have been taken by the authorities.

Typically, ambulance services and public transport are not available on these days although ambulatory facilities remain open.
