This funny conversation happened between Sanju Samson and India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav

On Saturday, during the third and final Twenty20 International of the series between India and Bangladesh, wicketkeeper-hitter Sanju Samson gave the ball of a lifetime. In the second-fastest time for an Indian, Samson achieved his first-ever triple-digit score in the Twenty20 International format. Samson just didn’t think that slowing down was an option, regardless of the milestone that was in play. Samson continued to build momentum by hitting huge bombs even though he was batting in his nineties.

Following the game, Samson and India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav had a lighthearted conversation in which the latter queried the former about his intentions. The exchange was captured on camera and was posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“Basically, I’m overjoyed, speechless, very emotional, and really thankful to God for making it happen. In a video, Samson said, “Everyone has his own time.”

Samson acknowledged that the hundred was difficult and lengthy, but he still believed in his ability to get over the three-digit mark.

Samson, at the non-striker’s end, spoke with Suryakumar and stated, “I just kept on doing my work, kept on believing in myself, and happy that you were there with me to celebrate that hundred.”
“On the other side, I found it enjoyable. One of the finest hundreds I have ever seen,” the captain of India said, before asking a question on Samson’s judgment of the acceleration throughout the nineties.

“You were on 96 or 97 and going down the straight, over the top, taking that risk-what was running in your mind?,” Samson said to Suryakumar.

“The team atmosphere and the environment which we have created in these many weeks…,” the India wicketkeeper retorted. The takeaway is to act both assertively and modestly. Our coach and captain are always reminding us of these two things. That, I believe, fits my personality and inclination, so I simply continued going for it.”

Samson also said that, when batting at ninety-six, Suryakumar told him to take it easy. However, the batsman who kept wickets had other plans.

I warned Surya at the age of 96 that I would crush it, but he encouraged me to take it easy since I had earned it. However, I’m very pleased with the level of transparency Captain Surya and Gautam bhai have provided. They told me to play with aggression and humility, and that works well for me,” he said.
