Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran lauds Ratan Tata’s unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity and innovation
Tata Group stated in a statement late on Wednesday night that Ratan Tata, the former chairman of the Tata Group who exposed the Indian conglomerate on the international scene with a series of well-publicized acquisitions, passed away. He scored 86.
Two days ago, on Monday, the entrepreneur posted on social media dispelling the rumors about his health, along by a note for his followers: “Thank you for thinking of me”.
“I wish to clear everyone’s doubts about my health because recent rumors about it are untrue. Owing to my age and accompanying medical issues, I am now seeing doctors. I still am in high spirits…” Mr. Tata had remarked on his social media page.
“I ask the public and media not to dissemin false information,” the 86-year-old had urged in his penultimate social media post.
Declaring the death, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrase lauded the industrialist’s relentless dedication to quality, ethics, and innovation.

“We bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly rare leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation,” said Mr Chandrase
“For the Tata Group, Mr. Tata served more as than just a chairman. He was, to me, friend, advisor, and mentor. He was motivated by model. Under his direction, the Tata Group grew internationally while keeping loyal to its moral compass while relentlessly committed to quality, honesty, and innovation.”
Drawing on Mr Tata’s charity, Mr Chandrase said “from education to healthcare, his initiatives have left a deep-rooted mark that will benefit generations to come”.
As word got out, friends, colleagues industrialist, and movie stars sent memorials in.
Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra Group, said he could not tolerate Tata’s absence and that his only action might be to set a model for others.
“Legends like him never fade” stated industrialist Gautam Adan.
Chairman Harsh Goenka of RPG Enterprises praised the businessman as a “beacon of integrity”.
Saying he “provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest business houses”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the businessman as a “compassionate soul”.
“Shri Ratan Tata Ji was an outstanding human being, a caring spirit, and a brilliant commercial leader. He gave one of India’s most prominent companies, among the oldest, consistent direction.
Simultaneously, his involvement extended well beyond the boardroom. The Prime Minister stated in a string of postings on X, “he endeared.”
Ratan Tata oversaw the $100 billion steel-to—software company established by his great-grandfather more than a hundred years ago until 2012 and became chairman of the firm in 1991.
In 1996 he established Tata Teleservices, a telecoms firm, and in 2004 he brought Tata Consultancy Services public.
Mr Tata was a well-known person on social media even after retiring, with sincere messages for animal rights (especially dogs) and calls to Indian people.
