RG Kar Rape and Murder: How CBI Charge Sheet Nails Sanjay Roy

RG Kar Rape and Murder: Sanjay Roy, the accused RG Kar rape and murderer, may have argued at his Tuesday court appearance that he is innocent, but the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) charge sheet, which a media report obtained, has sufficient evidence to link Roy to the crime and establish his guilt.

Roy is accused by the agency of raping and killing the hospital’s 31-year-old trainee doctor, according to material, technical, and scientific evidence included in the agency’s first charge sheet.

Scientific Proof

According to the DNA profiling data that the CBI referenced, Roy’s saliva was discovered on the victim’s corpse. The CBI claims that “the nipple swab shows presence of his saliva.” It continues by saying that material taken from beneath the victim’s nail was also matched to Roy’s DNA. Roy also owns a “short hair” that was discovered at the homicide site, according to the charging sheet. Additionally, samples taken from the deceased’s corpse matched Roy’s DNA. In addition, the victim’s bloodstains were discovered on the accused’s pants and shoes. The CCTV video shows him dressed in the same attire. Roy’s clothing were found in the barrack of the 4th Kolkata Armed Police, according to Kolkata Police.

Technical Proof

Roy’s presence at RG Kar Hospital between 3.30 and 4am on August 9 is confirmed by the position of the mobile tower. The autopsy report states that the deceased was slain at that time.

In addition, Roy can be seen on the CCTV footage entering the hospital at this time and on the third level of the building, which houses the lecture hall and crime scene. He may be seen leaving the trauma center after entering the hospital and waving to the security officer. On August 9, at 4:03 PM, he is once again seen traveling from the right side of the frame toward the third-floor ward. At 4.31, the defendant advances toward the camera before turning around and returning to the ward. He is observed moving to the right of the camera at 4:32 a.m. while carrying a helmet in his left hand without his Bluetooth neckband, according to CBI.

Relevant Proof

According to CBI, Roy can be seen walking inside RG Kar while sporting a Bluetooth band around his neck. On the other hand, the CCTV footage shows him walking away without it. The Bluetooth band that was discovered at the crime site matched the footage captured on camera. According to CBI, it was also associated with the community volunteer’s smartphone.

Multidisciplinary Group Consulted

The CBI said that it examined the evidence with a specialized team of physicians prior to submitting its charge sheet. “A multi-institutional medical board (MIMB) headed by the forensic medicine professor of AIIMS who provided a medico-legal opinion on the case and including expert members from AIIMs, RML, Lady Hardinge, Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College, Safdarjung Hospital, and Maulana Azad Medical College,” the agency stated.

According to the charge sheet, the physicians believed that the victim had been sexually assaulted 12 hours before the post mortem and that hypoxia was the cause of death.

The physicians said that there was consistency between the post-mortem findings and the magisterial inquiry report. This is an important discovery since it has been questioned if the post-mortem procedure was flawed in any way.

According to the CBI, the MIMB took into account Roy’s injuries as well and concluded that they were blunt-force injuries “consistent with resistance/struggle by the victim.” However, the agency informed the court that they were still awaiting the MIMB’s final report.

The agency thinks that Roy murdered the doctor because she was rejecting his attempts to sexually attack her. The CBI has also said that it is looking into allegations of evidence destruction against Abhijeet Mondal, the official in charge of the Tala police station, and Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar.
