Nasrallah was killed in a Beirut airstrike because an Iranian informant gave Israel crucial intelligence
According to reports, Israel received vital data from an Iranian insider that enabled Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, to be killed on Friday in a major bombing that hit his bunker.
Le Parisien stated, citing a Lebanese security source, that the spy alerted Israeli troops about Nasrallah’s whereabouts only hours before the assault, which was carried out in his highly fortified subterranean headquarters in Dahieh, a southern suburb of Beirut.
How it Took Place
When Nasrallah arrived at the command center, Israeli fighter planes outfitted with bunker-buster bombs were stationed in Lebanese airspace. Shortly after the burial of a Hezbollah drone unit leader killed in an earlier attack, he was holding an emergency conference with other top commanders, including one from Iran’s Quds Force.
In the assault, two nearby buildings were destroyed and a big 30-meter-deep crater was created by the dropping of six two-ton bombs. There are reports that the explosion was audible as far away as downtown Beirut. With Nasrallah’s passing, this attack is regarded as one of the biggest against Hezbollah since 2006 and deals serious damage to the group.
The New York Times reports that Iran’s current priorities include assisting Hezbollah in regrouping, which includes selecting a new leader and reorganizing its organizational hierarchy. According to Israel’s military, the organization has severely weakened its leadership after ousting eight of Hezbollah’s nine most senior military commanders this year.

In addition, explosives concealed in Hezbollah’s communication devices were detonated during the most recent strikes, wounding almost 1,500 militants. Fears that the confrontation may spiral out of control and include not just the United States, Israel’s closest friend, but also Iran have grown as a result of Israel’s escalating bombardment. Since the Iranian-backed Palestinian group’s onslaught on Israel on October 7, Israel has been fighting with Hezbollah in Gaza. This is the most recent round in an ongoing four-decade confrontation between the two groups.
Hezbollah said in a statement that it will continue on its fight against Israel “in support of Gaza and Palestine and in defense of Lebanon and its steadfast and honorable people” after announcing Nasrallah’s passing on Saturday.
