Sensex-Nifty see greenery in early trade, Nifty cross 26,000
Sensex-Nifty: The BSE Sensex and Nifty 50, two key stock indexes in India, started almost unchanged on Thursday.
At the opening bell, the Nifty 50 was at 26,014.50, up 10.35 points, or 0.04 percent, while the BSE Sensex was at 85,185.47, up 150 points, or 0.02 percent.
Worldwide Cues
The Asia-Pacific markets opened higher on Thursday morning, with expectations that the Chinese markets would keep rising.
Futures on Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index were trading at 19,336 at the latest close, which was 19,129.1. In early trade, the Nikkei 225 in Japan gained 1.7%, while the Topix as a whole gained 1.2%. With a rise of 1.77 percent, South Korea’s Kospi topped the area, followed by Australia’s S&P/ASX 200, which gained 0.68 percent.
Apart from that, Wednesday saw a general decline in global stock indexes and energy shares, while US Treasury rates increased as investors continued to hold onto the belief that the US economy would be able to have a soft landing thanks to actions taken by the Federal Reserve.
The Nasdaq was flat at closing on Wall Street, while the Dow and S&P 500 finished down after reaching new highs in early exchanges.
The Nasdaq Composite increased by 0.04 percent to 18,082.21, the S&P 500 lost 0.19 percent to 5,722.26, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average sank 0.70 percent to 41,914.75.
