US President Donald Trump shared that peace talks are underway with Russia

Washington, DC: President Donald Trump of the United States said that peace negotiations are underway with Russia and emphasized that the United States would “like them to stop” since the conflict is killing thousands of people.

If a peace agreement is anticipated, US President Donald Trump said, “We are talking to Russia; we would like them to stop,” during his journey on Air Force One on the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. I don’t like that they are bombing and killing hundreds of young kids every week.

His comments follow Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s previous post on X, in which he claimed that Russia had fired missiles from the Black Sea. In his post on X, he called for a ceasefire, saying, “A ceasefire at sea is not just about free navigation and the export of food products — it is, above all, about overall security and bringing peace closer.”

“If there is a ceasefire, it must be unconditional—one that does not permit the destruction of life,” he said. The United States has proposed a complete, unconditional ceasefire, which Ukraine has accepted. Putin is not complying. We are waiting for the United States to respond—none has done so far—and we anticipate a response from everyone who really wants peace in Europe and the rest of the globe.

This view was reaffirmed by French President Emmanuel Macron, who wrote on X that an immediate ceasefire was necessary.

“While Ukraine accepted President Trump’s proposal for a complete and unconditional ceasefire for 30 days nearly a month ago, while we are working with all our partners on ways to secure peace, Russia continues the war with renewed intensity, showing no regard for civilians.”

“These Russian attacks have to stop. As quickly as possible, a ceasefire is required… firm measures if Russia persists in trying to gain time and rejecting peace.”

CNN reported that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on April 4 that he had met with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s envoy and sent him back to Moscow with the message that “the clock is ticking on when there needs to be a breakthrough in the peace talks to end the Ukraine war.” These developments come after Rubio’s announcement.
