Elon Musk shares photos of Earth’s polar regions captured by SpaceX’s Dragon capsule
Washington DC: SpaceX’s Dragon capsule launched into orbit a day ago, and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk reshared photos of the first views of Earth’s polar regions on Tuesday. Musk posted on the social networking site X, “This is the first time humans have been in orbit around the poles of Earth!” Musk is the founder and CEO of SpaceX.

The ‘Fram2’ private astronaut mission was launched by SpaceX aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on March 31. It is described as “the first crewed spaceflight ever to orbit Earth over the planet’s poles.”

Chun Wang, a Chinese bitcoin millionaire, is in charge of the expedition, along with three other crew members: Australian Eric Phillips, who serves as Fram2’s medical officer and mission expert; Norwegian vehicle commander Jannicke Mikkelsen; and German pilot Rabea Rogge.
The four private astronauts are all first-time space travelers. According to SpaceX, the mission is anticipated to span three to five days.
Over the duration of the journey, the crew will conduct 22 scientific experiments, including the first-ever X-rays of the human body taken in orbit and the first-ever mushroom cultivation in space.
It is anticipated that they will splash down at sea and return to Earth.
“After safely returning to Earth, the crew plans to exit from the Dragon spacecraft without additional medical and operational assistance, helping researchers characterize the ability of astronauts to perform unassisted functional tasks after short and long durations in space,” stated SpaceX.
