Amit Shah extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Odisha on the occasion of Odisha Day
New Delhi: On the occasion of Odisha Day, also known as Utkal Divas, which commemorates the creation of the state of Odisha in 1936, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday sent his warmest regards to the people of Odisha.

Odisha has been a “jewel” in India’s pride, the Union Home Minister said on the social networking site X, adding that the state is paving the path to become the nation’s economic engine.
“On this Odisha Day, we extend our warmest regards to our sisters and brothers in Odisha. Odisha, a state rich in natural riches and a rich cultural legacy, has long been a source of pride for Bharat. By realizing its full potential, the state is now accelerating to become the engine of Bharat’s progress. “May Mahaprabhu Jagannath grant Odisha the ability to achieve unprecedented levels of prosperity,” Shah said.

Mohan Charan Majhi, the chief minister of Odisha, also sent his best wishes on this special day, describing it as a “humble tribute” to those who gave their lives to establish the state.
“Happy Odisha Day, and greetings and best wishes to everybody. A modest ode to the great heroes who elevated our language, literature, and culture and made tremendous sacrifices for the creation of an independent Odisha state. Let’s reaffirm our commitment to creating a prosperous and healthy Odisha on this day,” Manjhi said on X.
Dharmendra Pradhan, a Lok Sabha MP from Sambalpur, Odisha, and the Union Minister of Education, also took to X to wish everyone a happy Odisha Day.

“My warmest regards on ‘Odisha Day’ to my fellow Odishans and the Odia community, who propagate Odia culture and traditions over the globe. Our state of Odisha was honored to become the first linguistically autonomous province on this day in 1936. Pradhan said, “I salute all the great men who fought and made sacrifices to give Odia identity, pride, and culture the recognition they deserve.”

On the eve of Utkal Divas, Bhubaneswar’s government buildings were lighted.
Odisha celebrates the day annually with much fanfare, and a number of activities are planned for the day. For the people of Odisha, April 1st has great significance since it was on this day in 1936 that the state was established based on language.
