Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired first conference of commissioners and co-district commissioner
Guwahati: At Guwahati’s Lok Sewa Bhawan on Tuesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presided over the first-ever meeting of district and co-district commissioners.

He examined programs designed to improve government and public welfare, and the conference covered a number of other important topics. The chief minister of Assam gave the administration instructions to carry out all budgeted declarations and expand on Advantage Assam 2.0’s accomplishments.
“This is a great platform to implement a whole-of-government approach on key flagship initiatives to ensure last-mile delivery,” the Assam Chief Minister said on social network X. The meeting today follows #AssamBudget2025, when I gave our administration instructions to carry out all budgetary statements and expand on #AdvantageAssam2’s successes.”
The Chief Minister thoroughly reviewed the state of major government programs’ execution as well as other important issues at the meeting. He gave a number of significant instructions to help expedite the state’s growth.
Compensation for pregnant women in tea gardens, expediting the geotagging of PMAY homes, resolving Mission Basundhara 3.0 within the allotted time, simplifying Orunodoi, CM Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, and distributing 5 lakh gamosas, as well as the successful use of the U-Win platform and TB elimination initiatives, were some of the other main topics of discussion during yesterday’s deliberations.
In order to enhance service delivery and be ready for the next Panchayat Elections, the Chief Minister also spoke about methods to boost the role of Co-District Commissioners.
The seminar was attended by Assam Cabinet Ministers Atul Bora, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Keshab Mahanta, Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, and other high-ranking officials.
The Assam government has proposed the establishment of a satellite, ASSAMSAT, in its Budget 2025, which was presented on Monday.
According to the chief minister of Assam, the capital expenditure for the fiscal year 2024–2025 has increased to Rs 24,964 crore. “Assam is going to start its own OTT platform. This year, we are spending Rs 25,000 crore on capital projects, up from only Rs 3000 crore over the previous ten years. The state of Assam is very delicate. We want to prevent any form of disruption to the community.
Due to several challenging situations, we prohibited the transfer of land between religions last year. Interreligious land sales and purchases are now permitted. However, this will only take place with the state government’s consent, allowing us to carefully review and analyze each request before granting authorization,” he said.
The Assam economic story would get additional impetus with the state budget of Rs 2.63 lakh crore for 2025–2026.
