A massive avalanche hit the Sarbal area of Sonamarg in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir
Ganderbal: On Wednesday, a huge avalanche hit the Sarbal neighborhood of Sonmarg in the Ganderbal region of Jammu and Kashmir. No fatalities or injuries were recorded. The camera also captured a video of the avalanche.

When a new layer of snow is added to a snowpack by a recent snowfall, snow avalanches are more likely to happen.
Natural factors, including the pull of gravity on a steep slope, earthquakes, wind, topography, vegetation, increasing temperatures (which weaken the bindings between the layers), and general snowpack conditions, may all cause avalanches.
They may also be brought on by human activity, including a skier’s weight, building or development projects, or the use of explosives to suppress avalanches on dangerous slopes.
Snow avalanches are a common occurrence in the Himalayas, especially in the Western Himalayas, which include the snowy areas of Western Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Snow avalanche zones come in three different varieties. The Red Zone is the most hazardous, with an impact pressure of over three tons per square meter.
Blue Zone: An area where dwelling and other activities are allowed and the avalanche force is less than three tons per square meter.
Yellow Zone: A region with infrequent snow avalanches.
As of right now, experts are unable to pinpoint the exact time and location of avalanches.
By monitoring the snowpack, temperature, and wind, they can, nonetheless, determine the degrees of danger and identify areas that are at risk.
by building massive, robust structures to stabilize snowpacks and prohibiting unsustainable tourism and development in areas at risk of avalanche.
